The enigma is of such ancient and respectable origin, that I shall ask no one to excuse me for offering this book to the public. Enigmatical questions are frequent in the Scriptures, and in olden times often contained a great deal of valuable information. I intend, my dear young friends, to combine instruction with amusement; and do not fear but what my expectations will be sufficiently realized.
