By far the best of Doyle's drawings were those which appeared in "Punch" under the title of "Manners and Customs of Ye Englishe." His sense of humour was as sturdy as his draughtsmanship was delicate and the union is comedy exquisite. THE SERVILE STATE By Hilaire Belloc.
