Lesson XXXIII. Elijah.

2. What was the name of A´hab's wife, who led him to wickedness? Jez´e-bel.

3. At what city did the kings of Is?´ra-el live? At Sa?-ma´ri-a?.

4. What great prophet came at the time while A´hab was king? E?-li´jah.

5. What did E?-li´jah tell King A´hab? That no rain should come upon the land.

6. Where did E?-li´jah hide from King A´hab? By the brook Che´rith.

7. Who brought him food while he was by the brook? Wild birds called ravens.

8. Where did God send E?-li´jah afterward? To the city of Zar´e-phath.

9. Who cared for E?-li´jah in that city? A poor widow.

Lesson XXXIV. Elijah on Carmel and Horeb.

1. For how long did no rain fall on the land of Is?´ra-el? For more than three years.

2. At what place did E?-li´jah call for all the people to meet him after three years? On Mount CÄr´mel.

3. What did E?-li´jah tell them to build on Mount CÄr´mel? Two altars.

4. For whom were these altars? One for God, and the other for the idol called Ba´al.

5. What came upon God's altar when E?-li´jah prayed? Fire from heaven.

Lesson XXXV. The Prophet Elisha.

(Omit Stories 6, 7, 8. Tell Stories 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 in Part Fourth. In Story 10, tell only about "The Spring Sweetened by Salt.")

1. How was the prophet E?-li´jah taken to heaven? In a chariot of fire.

2. Who took E?-li´jah's place as prophet? E?-li´sha?.
