Some meet memorial I would raise, O gracious God, to Thy kind care:— A fane for silent, unshared praise, A shrine for solitary prayer. An altar in the wilderness, Known only to the stars above,— Whose grateful incense shall confess The comfort of Thy sheltering love. Such monument my heart would rear, O blessed God, my God! to Thee; Thy presence ever proving near, My Strength, my Song, eternally!
